National and Plovdiv Theaters Dominate 'Ikar' Awards: Plamen Dimov Named Best Male Actor

The National Theater and Plovdiv Drama Theater secured the most awards at the prestigious "Ikar" ceremony held on March 27 at the Svetleni Den Theater in Sofia, with Plamen Dimov taking home the top honor for Best Male Actor.

Leading Performers and Theatrical Excellence

  • Plamen Dimov was awarded for his leading role in "Ivan Vazov".
  • Veselin Mezhekov received recognition for supporting role in "Glembavi".
  • Spektakl Ruzencran and Hildens honored for scenography and costume design.
  • Heida Gabler recognized for master technical achievement.
  • Olya Nedalkova received the special award for the best assistant director.

Plovdiv Drama Theater's Success

The Plovdiv Drama Theater earned eight awards, including:

  • Berlin, Berlin for best play.
  • Stoyan Radev for best actor.
  • Radina Dumanya for best female role.

Historical Recognition and Future Prospects

The "Ikar" award for author music was given to Sashko Kostov and Yavor Karagatliev for "Vlyubeniya Dirijab" at Plovdiv Theater. Additionally, the Plovdiv Theater received the Paula Maravilla award for the best role in "Liceito na Blizhniya" ("Sumato"). - usamkr

The ceremony was also awarded for critical text – "Bulgarski Teatr 1856-2026. Repertorn Polityki. Stanovachni Praktiki" by Kamelia Nikolova, and the Iva Sveshova and Vil Prag for "Tel na vlastta" (Dubla/Ozvuchava) – Pety Abadjieva for "Hal v Tezi, Koyto Sh Umrat" and Ivailo Velchev for "Lisitsata Nik Uaild" in "Zootropoli 2".
